Wir bauen das Boot jetzt schon das sechste Jahr.
Unser Sohn war 3 Monate alt, als wir das Boot, bzw. den Rumpf gekauft haben. Seitdem war er jedes Jahr mit dabei. Als er noch ein Baby war, war es für mich unmöglich Paul beim Bootsbau zu helfen, da kam ich mit dem Kleinen nur für eine kurze Besuchsrunde in die Halle vorbei. Aber so im Alter von ca. 2 Jahren hat er unsere Baustelle ein bisschen als einen Spielplatz betrachtet und wollte natürlich alles erkunden. Selbstverständlich ist das nur unter konstanter Aufsicht möglich, und seine Sicherheit hatte für uns immer die höchste Priorität. Sehr bald kam noch dazu, dass er sich langweilte, wenn er keine bautechnischen Aufgaben bekommen hatte :) . Kinderwerkzeug und Staubsaugen hat bald nicht mehr gereicht. Also mussten wir Rätsel mitnehmen, später Karten- und Brettspiele, und mussten uns immer wieder neue Arten der Unterhaltung ausdenken. Da wir in Finnland keine Bezugsperson hatten, die für uns babysitten konnte, war der Kleine immer dabei und Paul und ich mussten uns bei allen unseren Aufgaben immer abwechseln. Daher waren unsere Arbeitstage beim Boot oft nicht so effizient wie geplant, und das lange Projekt wurde noch länger.
Nichtsdestotrotz bin ich überzeugt, dass es für unseren Sohn sehr schön und wertvoll ist, mitzuerleben wie seine Eltern so etwas auf die Beine stellen und handwerkliche Arbeit kennenzulernen. Er ist zwar noch klein, und wird sich nicht an alles erinnern, aber einiges wird abfärben, und Bilder und Videos sind auch da, um sich den Anfang des Abenteuers rückblickend anschauen zu können :)
We have been building the boat for the sixth year now.
Our son was 3 months old when we bought the boat (the hull). Since then he has been there with us every year. When he was still a baby, it was impossible for me to help Paul build the boat, so I only came to the hall with the little one for a short visit. But at the age of about 2 he saw our construction site a bit like a playground and of course wanted to explore everything. It goes without saying that this is only possible under constant supervision, and his safety has always been our top priority. Very soon there was also the fact that he was bored if he hadn't been given any construction tasks :). Children's tools and vacuuming were soon not enough anymore. So we had to take puzzles with us, later card and board games, and keep coming up with new types of entertainment. Since we didn't have a caregiver in Finland who could babysit for us, the little one was always there and Paul and I always had to take turns in all of our tasks. As a result, our working days at the boat were often not as efficient as planned, and our long project just got longer.
Nevertheless, I am convinced that it is very nice and valuable for our son to see his parents set up something like this and get to know manual work. He is still very young and won't remember everything, but some of it will rub off, and pictures and videos are also there to look back at the beginning of the adventure :)
